This map is an orientation guide to the Catholic impact investing ecosystem in the United States. It shows the organizations, investment vehicles, and key networks where Catholic values and capital markets intersect — from the women religious congregations that pioneered shareholder engagement in the 1970s, to the CDFIs and fund managers deploying capital into affordable housing, clean energy, and community development today.
I built this to prepare for my role on the Innovative Finance team at Catholic Relief Services. CRS appears as the anchor node for that reason — it’s the lens I used to decide what to include. The map is designed to be useful to anyone trying to orient themselves in this space.
Use the Overview to understand how the field is organized. Use the Detailed map to explore specific organizations, their connections, and how they relate to each other.
This is a living document, updated as the field evolves. Suggestions welcome.
